"The course has enabled me to vastly improve my interaction with other staff members. I thought the course was well focused and relevant to my current occupation and it has helped me deal with matters outside of work. I loved your wonderful presentations which included humour and excellent communication. The facilitators have a friendly style of presentation where they talk with us and not at us. This has been a well thought out and executed two day program which has benefited our team enormously. Thank You!"
Creating Personal Happiness
Our company mission is:
To inspire and empower people to reach their potential, live their dreams and experience personal happiness
Considering our mission, as a director and leader in our organisation I have a total responsibility to lead by example and walk my talk.
This year I have had a couple of major events/ opportunities that have prompted me into reflection and really noticing my thoughts and unconscious reactions to these events. I have noticed mentally that I feel a deep sense of dissatisfaction and frustration. Physical symptoms that accompany these thoughts are the tightening of my abdomen and diaphragm which inhibits my breathing. Then to top it all off I have noticed how my feelings of personal happiness and joy are stifled.
This is quite a different experience for me as I can usually flow and roll with life’s punches (opportunities) quite easily. They say personal growth and development is like peeling away the layers of an onion. For me to experience a greater sense of personal happiness it is time to peel away another layer. Reflecting on my experiences I am asking myself the following questions:
1. What is different for me in my current situation?
I have noticed how busy I am, how little I am taking time out even to just sit and eat, let alone to take a day off. I have become too focused on my destination (goals) instead of taking the time to enjoy or even notice the journey or to keep in perspective what the real journey is!
2. What am I doing to assist myself to change these unconscious reactions?
For me time out does give me perspective. I do my most favourite things to become reinspired and I notice what an incredible life I have, how far I have progressed and what an incredible world we live in. I notice all the beauty, power and magic and as a result I restore my faith.
It is in writing these few words that I finally realise it comes back to my work life balance and taking charge of this. It is essential I decide that I can take time off and tell myself I do not need to keep stacking things into my life. Being, taking time out and noticing the journey adds enormously to my personal happiness and personal effectiveness.
Winter is a great time for some being. So give yourself some permission for some time out, restore your faith and allow that personal happiness to fill you up.
Enjoy and remember to let your light shine
